we’ve just introduced a menu tab to the music miniplayer. initial functionality includes:
- listeners can now quickly access the last 10 songs they’ve played on thesixtyone
- selecting the menu permanantly maintains the miniplayer in full-view
there’s more to come, so stay tuned.
from the looks of my inbox, it looks like thesixtyone’s experiencing some streaming hiccups this morning. we’ll check it out and post updates, if neccessary, here.
update: we’ve temporarily moved to our more expensive backup audio server to keep y’all warm and happy.
you can expect three changes in the near future:
- a better way to view bump cost (the current setup is very, very temporary)
- easy access to how many times you’ve bumped a song (hint: no clicks required). until now, we couldn’t implement this type of view without negatively affecting site performance.
- some very useful functionality added to the persistent miniplayer. examples include an easy way to access elements of your collection page and the ability to keep the player permanently open.
…is in, one day ahead of schedule. watch for tweaks and adjustments over the coming week as we give the new ui some time to settle in. take it for a spin!
p.s. to those awake and using thesixtyone at 11:30p pst, don’t forget to refresh your browser!
you may have noticed that certain elements of our song user interface changed tonight — namely, we’ve moved sections like share, watch, and bumps under a unified drawer that’s triggered by clicking on comments.
this is the first of many changes we’ll be introducing as we continue to simplify and evolve how songs are displayed on thesixtyone — expect things to be in flux for at least the next few days.
thanks for your patience!
